Regulation Update: What You Need to Know
As of 1 October 2024, all nicotine vaping devices must now meet specific requirements in order to be legally sold in New Zealand. While some devices have included these features for a while now, you may notice other products take a temporary hiatus while manufacturers update them to meet these incoming regulatory requirements.
From October 1st, all vape devices must:
- Be fitted with a removable battery that can be easily removed, inspected and replaced without damaging the battery or the device. The device itself does not qualify as a battery.
- Include a child safety mechanism and automatically deactivate after 10 minutes of inactivity.
